The common man in Uttar Pradesh, already grappling with inflation, cooking gas shortages, and increased milk prices, received yet another blow as petrol, diesel, and CNG prices in the state increased starting Friday morning. .
In Lucknow, the price of petrol increased by ₹2.84, while diesel prices have increased by ₹3.01. Consequently, the general public will now have to pay ₹97.55 per liter for petrol and ₹90.82 per liter for diesel. In rest of the state the rate would be similar.

Officials here said that additionally, the price of CNG has also been hiked. CNG rates in Lucknow have been raised by ₹2. It is being suggested that this is merely the first wave of price hikes for petrol and diesel; further price revisions could occur multiple times in the future.
Currently, the price of CNG in Lucknow stands at ₹98 per kilogram.
Praveen Singh, AGM at Green Gas Limited, clarified that the previous CNG rates will continue to apply in Lucknow, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Unnao, and Agra. However, CNG prices had already been hiked by ₹2 when they were last revised; the current rate has remained unchanged since that time.
Meanwhile, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav took a dig at the rising petrol prices. He wrote on X, “If you want to move forward, the only option is a bicycle. We have already said that there is nothing better than a bicycle.”
However PM Modi’s appeal to save petrol and diesel is having an impact in Uttar Pradesh. In Rampur, BJP MLA Akash Saxena purchased four e-rickshaws on Thursday. He now travels to events in the e-rickshaw with a gunman.
BJP MP Ravi Kishan also participated in car-pulling on Friday morning. He traveled 25 km to Khajni in an electric car with Kushinagar MP Vijay Dubey. He urged those who don’t vote for the BJP to support him, as the Prime Minister has spoken for the country. In Lucknow, Minister Danish Azad abandoned his fleet and rode a Bullet to the Secretariat.
The Firozabad District Magistrate (DM) walked a kilometer with his staff to reach the office.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to conserve petrol and diesel, the number of vehicles in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s convoy has been reduced. Meanwhile, the state’s Finance Minister, Suresh Khanna, arrived at the Vidhan Bhawan on a bicycle on Thursday. Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh reached his workplace using an e-rickshaw.
